Blessed 2010
Friday, January 1st, 2010
I answered prayer request from people I do not know
They needed a friend and someone that would not show
Their secrets to others were safe with me
I answered them and prayed for the request you see
Thank God for everything
I picked up the phone and called my elderly sister
We talked and shared just above a whisper
I could not see her but heard her sweet voice
We need to check on those we love it is our choice
Thank God for everything
My husband was hungry so we went downstairs
Put food in the microwave and ate right there
Oh how often we forget to thank Him
For all the things we take for granted each day
May you bow your head now and pray
Thank God for everything
Thank you God for guiding my path
Through the valley where you held my hand
The mountain tops that you tugged on me to climb
My parents that were given to me by your divine order
For my children that you sent to me in your timing
I praise you for my salvation
The mind that you gave me to understand the Old Rugged Cross
For your presence in my life today
Thank you Lord for your patience with a sinner such as I
The love that you have shown through the wrong paths that I chose
The many friends that you sent into my life to love
Thank you for the guidance you will give me tomorrow
For the forgiveness that you have given me today
Continue to guide my path dear Lord
The path that seems so uncertain to me
You know where I am going and you know where I have been
Thank you for listening to my prayers
Some of them are only whining or begging from me
Thank you
I taught my little boys to be thankful
Before we ate, we bowed our heads and often
Said ‘God is great, God is good,
Let us thank Him for our food’
Many a child has said something like that
Some go on and on with their sweet little thanks
They thank him for everyone and everything
We adults are often impatient and ready to eat
It would be better if we would give thanks,
He provides our food and shelter
Days go by and we never remember to thank Him
Why do we wait until troubles come
To get on our knees and beg for Him
To listen to our request and answer them please,
I need you now can’t you see.
If my people who are called by my name
Will humble themselves and pray
I will hear their prayer
I will forgive their sins
I will heal their land
Let His people pray
Today as we sit and watch
The devastation of nature
People have lost everything
We shed tears for the pain we see
Let His people pray
There is a war across the waters
Where our troops are fighting
For our freedom and peace in our land
Let His people pray
Domestic violence is rampart in our world
Child abuse is higher than we think
We have never seen such greed before
Let His people pray
Our president is doing all he can for us
Whether you like him or not
God’s word teaches us to respect him
Let His people pray
There is suffering and death
All around us today
We humble ourselves and pray
That you will bless our people today
Let us humble ourselves and pray
Lord Jesus, I come to you, today,
Asking to forgive me as I pray
For the lack of service to you.
I desire to be worthy.
Forgive me for not seeking your face
As I start my day and began to race
Into the world, to do whatever I please.
I desire to be worthy.
Thank you, dear Lord, for your wonderful grace.
You forgave me and love me in all of my haste.
Jesus made me worthy to live by faith.
Thank you, dear Lord, for making me worthy.
I desire to be worthy.
We talk funny deep down in the South
So do the folks that live North of us – everyone lives North of us
We have education and class, we have the Southern Bell’s, great athletes
We are the ones that like to have fun and we laugh at our kin
What could be so wrong with that when we are a funny bunch
Our grammar could be improved and so could some of the schools
We may not be Ivy League but we can cook and have charm
Redneck has become a popular word and for this one I like it
My neck isn’t red but my blood is and I am proud of the USA
You will not find a better class of people than the Southern folks
We are flag waving Americans and love our Lord
If that is a redneck then to God give the Glory
We were born in the South because God put us here
If you think you are better, smarter or
classier than us
Forget that! We forgive you, and love you too!!!
My doctor is great and has time for me
He is the one that I look forward to see
When my fever is high and my head is hurting
I want to go to someone that cares I am there
As he walks in the room, you are sitting and waiting
Scared half to death and your blood pressure is up
The white coat is frightening in deed
My doctor cares and he puts me at ease
A smile on his face and a very nice greeting
Shaking my hand and seeing what I need
A great man, my doctor, who does the right things
Loves his God, his family and friends
This includes his patients, you can plainly see
Doctors are blessing that are from God above
I thank Him for Dr. Sikes who is tops in his field
He respects each person and that I love
If I have a chance to my friends I refer them
To the best one I know and to him many go
Thank you Dr. Sikes for the care that you give
To all that go to you to be healed!!!
There are all types of women in our universe
Some are kind with a smile on their face
Others frown and growl when others are near
The ones that disturb me act as if they cannot see
They will pass you in the mall or the halls of the church,
Hold their heads high and go on with a smirk
Oh, maybe there are only a few of these
There are many lovely ladies around if you please
Gracious and kind to all that they see
Do what they can when someone is in need
Speak to all that come into their path
Not a chip on the shoulder, not a bit of wrath
God gave women a special gift
To recognize honesty and those that are miffed
Lovely ladies are around us and we can plainly see
Don’t try to fool us, and we will let you BE!!
‘I am bored’, have you heard that line before?
Seems as if we never have enough to keep us happy
We have everything that is needed today,
Yet we are bored, so let us go play
The children have every toy that is made
We have taught them that this toy will fade
And to the store we go, just to get more
Oh my goodness, my child is bored
They learn this from us, who run all around
We shop until we drop and that does not satisfy
Must go out to eat or back to the mall
Wishing all along the empty spot we could fill
We are not happy with the running around
Why can’t we be still?
Why all the boredom in our world today?
Too many toys and not enough pay
Try not to say I am bored, if you may.
