Blessed 2010

God, bless our troops
That are protecting our land.
I know it is so hard
To push on, in that sand.
They are doing it for You
And for me to be free.
How can we not be as proud as can be
Of the sacrifice that is made
For each of us, today?
They are not getting much sleep
Or not enough to eat.
Yet, they keep pushing on,
With those tired weary feet.
Be with their loved ones
That they left behind,
That they might fight ~
So that our land will be fine.
God bless the pilots
That fly every day,
To help the ground troops
Find their way.
Many are tired, weary, and worn;
But keep trudging along.
Oh, how thankful I am for each one
That is fighting for me and the people at home.
Protect them, dear Lord, and
Let them feel Your presence
As they go through the night,
In that deep dark desert.
Give them Your peace
That from no other they can get.
Comfort the weary ones as
They keep going and do not fret.
Thank you, dear Lord,
For our TROOPS that we love.
Keep them safe, as they know
You are just above.
I learned this strange word several years ago
Bipolar was the word that I did not understand
As the doctor looked at my handsome son,
He said, ‘bipolar is what he has’
Never did I know what this disease could do
My wonderful child suffered and I could not know
The torture he felt when he was so low
Or the excitement he felt when he was high
To my sorrow I wish I had known
Just what he was going through
One day he said, Mom I enjoy the highs
But I know the low will come
It came one day with much despair
He went down in the woods and took his life
Oh how my heart aches today for the one that is gone
Manic-Depression is another name for this
Remember you are loved and take your medication
Don’t let BIPOLAR take control!!
I am a Baptist and proud of that fact
Was taught by my parents that is the way to act
I was given a bad time when I was in college and married my Marine
Refused to dance when I was asked at the social events
Just would say, ‘no thank you I don’t dance’
It looked like fun but I didn’t dare
Was taught not to dance so no way did I try
Now I have this all figured out, Baptist don’t dance
It isn’t that the denomination is taught not to dance
We can’t, simply can’t dance, it is a fact that Baptist can’t dance
I don’t think God would zap me off the floor
It is I would embarrass my self for sure
It took me a very long time to learn why we have a reputation
Baptist don’t dance, maybe some folks don’t dance
For their religious belief and that is ok
We have our differences and that is a fact
Baptist don’t dance because they can’t!!!!
God is so good to make us so different
If we all looked alike, this world would be mundane
There are short people, tall people
Thin ones, fat ones and those in between
We look into the mirror and see what he does not see
God had many patterns and I am thankful
We can be recognized
The difference makes us so unique in His sight
Some of the most pleasant people in this old word,
Are the ones with handicaps and we say they are different
As I look at my brothers and sisters in Christ
I thank Him for the way He chose for each of us to look
Let us thank Him for His plan for us
He made you and He made me, isn’t that great?
Getting angry with your friends and parents is sad
Be careful or your reputation will be bad
Lock your house and also your car
Especially if you are going far
It is the times that we live in today
If your friends aren’t God-fearing
Obeying parents and authority
Find someone else to hang out with today
Let them know that bad games you do not play
So please my friend just go away
Be careful what you do at home or in school
An example to others you make the rules
Do unto others as you would have them do to you
God expects us to live by this golden rule
This is from the old school
That would work well today
If you are careful and will pray!!
You can be a winner in whatever you do
Whether to excel in school or be nice in your neighborhood
Help out the less fortunate, see about the elderly folks
You need not be a jock or the homecoming queen
A winner you can be just doing God’s will
He has something for you and for me
If we ask Him to guide us, He certainly will
We appreciate the honor students for the work they do
It is nice to know the beauty or the Mr. High School
Nothing will be more exciting to you
Than just being a winner that God expects you to be
His plan is perfect if you could just see
Then you hold your head high and go to bat
For the recognition you deserve and will surely get
You are the winner by just being YOU!!
Ky was my first child, sweet and wonderful.
He was the one who wanted everything perfect …
His hair, his clothes, his room, and his family.
A finer boy you would never see.
As a little boy, he was a wonder;
Smart in school and was no trouble.
He was loved deeply by his brothers,
His dad, and especially his mother.
Away to college he went, one day.
It broke my heart, needless to say.
Suddenly, he drastically changed.
No one could understand why he did these things.
To the doctor we went.
Then, the heartache came.
Bipolar was a new name.
These things we do not understand.
Why did our child have to suffer this disease?
His medication he would not take.
His life he did, Oh, what a mistake.
When we think that becoming a Christian
Solves all the problems and bad things will not come
We are fooling ourselves
God grows us through the Pain
I have suffered grief very deeply
Lost my daddy, my mother, and a brother
The greatest heartbreak this mother was to endure
Was the death of my son, you can be sure
Many an illness has come my way
Some very serious but He was there everyday
Through the dark valleys, I could see the light
I knew God was there and I would be all right
Crying came easily as I would awake
Remembering the losses I could not fake
My face showed the pain and people would say
You will be fine and have a great day
I spent many an hour on my knees
Pleading to God “do not leave”
I couldn’t bare the hurt that day
Now I can look back and see that He was there all the time
Once in awhile you will meet someone great
Maybe not a celebrity or big shot, what’s that?
They often come in a shy sweet way
Doing whatever God asked of them that day
I knew a man like that, he was a gentle man
He enjoyed joking and playing around
For people to laugh, was a talent he had
God was so evident in his life
You were never uncomfortable in his sight
The people that came his way
He was kind and generous everyday
He often gave me money when I was broke
Never did he ask for it or make me a joke
My brother, George Dewey, is in heaven now
Waiting on his loved ones to come around
He was a bright spot in my life
In my heart he will always remain
There was so much love he showed this little sister
Sometimes she was a real pain!!
