Sometimes, He Says, “No.”

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Sometimes, my Father says, “No.”
He does it because He loves me so.

Often, I want something so badly I beg.
He says, “No, my child,” and He doesn’t hedge.

As He looks at my life and all my desires,
He wants me to be happy; not having to put out the fires.

Of all the mistakes that I could have made,
His answer was, “No,” if only I had obeyed.

I would not be married to the man He sent to me,
If He had answered my prayer that I would plead.

My life would not have been in the military, for sure.
Yet, He sent me to the mission field; for Him to endure.

He said, “No,” to the white picket fence.
I was to be a Marine wife, to witness for Him wherever sent.

I am so thankful for the answer of, “No,”
When, so often, it was my way I wanted to go.

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for answering my prayers.
Thank you for the many times that you said, “No,”
Because you did my blessings flow.

Southern Folk ain’t Rednecks

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

We talk funny deep down in the South
So do the folks that live North of us – everyone lives North of us
We have education and class, we have the Southern Bell’s, great athletes
We are the ones that like to have fun and we laugh at our kin
What could be so wrong with that when we are a funny bunch
Our grammar could be improved and so could some of the schools
We may not be Ivy League but we can cook and have charm
Redneck has become a popular word and for this one I like it
My neck isn’t red but my blood is and I am proud of the USA
You will not find a better class of people than the Southern folks
We are flag waving Americans and love our Lord
If that is a redneck then to God give the Glory
We were born in the South because God put us here
If you think you are better, smarter or
classier than us
Forget that! We forgive you, and love you too!!!

Seniors’ Wisdom

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

What is wisdom and who would think they are wise?

Senior citizen’s have wisdom beyond measure.  They know they are wise because of their eyes.  So much has been seen in their lifetime.  If only the younger ones would stop and ask for them to share.  The life of the senior has not always been happy as theirs.

Many came into this world and watched as their parents suffered.  The depression was when we had to have stamps to get shoes.  The bean truck came and brought us food that did not last.

Young people do not seem to care about our past.  Yet, they could learn so much history if only they would ask.  We remember more than most think we do.  Presidents and great men were assassinated as we watched

We saw the young folks trying to go to a school, where they were rejected and treated as if they were fools.  We suffered along, as we watched the terror there.

Who is wise and know what life is all about?  We are.  So, ask and find out why you do not want to walk in our shoes!!!!

Senior Citizens

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Seniors citizens are a group to adore

Just keep looking and learning and you will see more

They are a unique group, precious ones I love

They are funny and very wise

The older they get, more wisdom they have

Look around you, it could be your mother or dad

I am a senior and learn from my peers

We all grew up in the very lean years

Often we tell you, about the good ole days

The honest ones remember it was very tough

All of us are thankful that we did not have all this stuff

It made us stronger to do without

Now you want all that we have, that took many years!

To have the money and things that we hold dear

Just listen to the Seniors and you will see

Don’t rush your life to be like me

What we have now, came with a fee

School Reunion

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

Have you been to a school reunion?
You don’t know what you missed
Our school was so small we do not have class reunions
This week-end, I attended mine and needless to say
I did not recognize the old friends of long ago
Had to look at a name tag to say hello
What fun it was to reminisce of days long ago
Half I remembered and half I did not know
When someone remembered an antic of mine
I just laughed and acted just fine
My classmates and friends aren’t eighteen anymore
Yet they are so special and I love them even more
Many a gray hair and a stomach with a pouch
Looked great on those folks that I couldn’t live without
The beauty queens are grandmothers now
The hunks of the school, I couldn’t pick out
All were alike in one sense of the word
They were my dear old friends that will always be
Very special to me, regardless of what you see!!!

A Stupid Jump

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

As a young college student I often did not think
I acted on impulse or just to make my friends laugh
There were many young people at a Christian retreat
We walking across a bridge with a huge river below
One of my friends gave a very dangerous order
You should jump off the bridge, what fun that would be
I did not think and off I sailed
Hitting the water, without a yell
Bursting my ear drum as I fell far down into the river
Came up hurting with a great big shiver
A very stupid jump if I must say
It is a wonder that I am here today!!
I suggest that you think before you jump
It could be you that ends up in the slump

Self-esteem

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Wonder why so many people have low self-esteem
Thinking everyone is prettier, smarter, more fashionable than me
I am one of those that feel inadequate around some
The way I feel is nothing to write about
Others feel the same ,we do not know why
Things in my life seem wonderful to others
Because of this smiley face that I wear
Many ladies have told me about their low self-esteem
I can relate and they think I am making that up
No way, I am sorry to say that for some reason
I have this feeling of not good enough as my sisters in Christ say
God loves me just the way I am, He wants me to love my self
Through Him, I am doing the best that I can!!

A Soap Opera Life

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Have you noticed that people watch too much TV?
They think they are living this life they see,
buy the big houses, the latest in cars.
On the Soaps we often see, unhappy people.
Sometimes they get rather sappy,
Perfectly dressed and hair all in place.
It is a show – Would you really like to be the actors you see?
You don’t see them giving their hearts to God.
What we see is lives that are shot.
Why do you want a life like that?
Wouldn’t it be better if you trusted our Lord.
Be what He would like you to be,
then an example to other you see.
That is more important than this life you seek.
It is better to be, as simple as He.
That is what HE asked us to be.
A soap opera life will never be me.
I will continue to trust in thee.

Serving My God

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

I look to God in the morning
I know He is with me
As I kneel and Pray
God’s love for me will stay
He doesn’t leave me
God doesn’t stray
There are times I am lonely
Sometimes even depressed
I feel His presence in my stress
I don’t see a body or even His face
He lives in my heart
He gives me His grace
Serving my God doesn’t leave me lacking
It is serving Him that makes me happy
Because of His love
I could shout out loud
Do you know this God that I serve?
Please give Him a try, that you deserve

Strong Men

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I am writing this about my sons
They are my babies and always will be
Today, I realized they are strong men
How thankful can a mother be

When she can see Jesus in the sons that she raised
My Chad is a man of God, takes his family to church

And serves our Lord
He works hard every day to bring home the money
His wife can stay home with the children
To love them and teach them how to be strong
Chad is an engineer and it took a lot of work
He lives in Florida, that is where the Lord placed him
Shay is the younger one, sweet as can be
He works hard for his family to be free
His wife is a homemaker and does a great job
Shay takes his family to church and with them he prays
I am thankful my babies are Strong Godly Men today!!!
