We Need A Prayer Meeting

Monday, March 16th, 2009

We need a prayer meeting across our land

Thinking of our troops fighting in that sand

We call ourselves believers in all that is right

Yet we abort our babies and with each other fight

Does not seem to matter what the fight is about

It is I am right and your are wrong, isn’t that right?

We need a prayer meeting across our land

To come together and love one another as our self

That is what our God would like from us

Let us pray for the politician that they will get right with Him

So much confusion everyday of our life

Our little children cannot understand all this strife

Neighbor against neighbor, State against state

What in the world will be our fate?

We need a prayer meeting across our land

Gather together bow before Him and pray

For guidance and mercy that we need every day

Oh how we need a prayer meeting today

WWII Veterans

Friday, March 13th, 2009

To the veterans of World War 11, I salute you today

It has been a long time ago but the memories will stay

I am so thankful for the sacrifice that you made

For the freedom that we share on this Memorial Day

God bless you dear ones that are  here to celebrate

Many have gone home but we have not forgotten  you

As we think of Belgium or Germany way back to that date

In 1944 there was one that I love

Celebrated Christmas in a hut that he is not sure of

It was somewhere over there, he was hiding that day

Just to stay safe with his buddies he prayed

God bless these wonderful folks that made sacrifices for us

Bless the loved ones that are sadden because theirs did not make it home on that bus

With a big salute I honor you today

Thank God you are here as I bow to pray

When I was A Child

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

When I was a child, I thought as a child

So innocent and pure were my thoughts back then

Then I grew up and a teenager I became, I didn’t know much

Sometimes I thought I was insane, couldn’t believe how I had changed

When I turned twenty and was a college co-ed

I thought it was something and nothing to dread

Well college was over and I had to go to work

Taught school in Meridian and loved what I did

In my twenties I married a Marine, still thinking everything was fine

Now I am a senior citizen and have raised a family

Worries and troubles everywhere I look!

Friends are sick and dying now, things to worry about are here

The only thing that keeps me sane is the Love of my Lord

I hurt when people hurt and that isn’t fun

What happened to the fun times of being a child?

Wounded Not Broken

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

At one time or the other, we have been wounded;
Could be spiritual, physical, emotional or all.
There are those that have been hurt by another’s tongue;

Maybe a slap from someone that you love and had done no wrong.

Wounded, we have been, in so many ways,
That we want to cry during the day.
At night, our pillow is wet with tears
Because of the heartache, or maybe fears.

We are not broken, through these hurts we face,
Just wounded and crying because of this place

That we are, now, in and have no where to run.
Wounded, not broken, another day we can go on …

Living for the Lord, Jesus, because He really knows
Where the hurt is taking us and making us brave.
Grief is a terrible pain that we endure.
It may not pass, but God will be there for sure.

He loves me more than I can ever say,
The love that surrounds me when daily I pray.

“Wounded, not broken, my child,” He will say.
“Hold my hand and I will take you through the day.”

Work Ethics

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

When we talk about work ethics today,
Not many people understand what that means
My dear old dad taught us that a man’s word was his bond
Just a handshake for the money he borrowed
The person would know that they would get paid
If a person hired you, then give them a day’s work
Now the employee is the one that is the boss,
They are never happy and never at a loss
For words to put their employer down
Be thankful you have a job and can bring in the pay
Put a smile on your face and work hard this day
You will be happy with yourself I am assured
You can hold your head high and be proud of yourself
For doing the best that you have to offer
That is what success is all about
Work ethics is a term that you should learn
When you act it out, then you can shout
‘I am a hard worker’, now how about that?

WHY ME LORD?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

As a Christian I am often ashamed of saying ‘Why Me Lord?’

There are valleys that come into my life

I have illnesses, deaths of loved ones and strife

Through the years with the pain I have endured

God was always there and these things have made me strong

When I am on the Mountain top, I often feel so great

I don’t fall on my knees and ask him for a break

It is the valley that causes me to grow in my faith

He never puts more on me than I can handle with Him

When Jesus is on my side, I am ashamed when I whine and cry

A friend of mine in my Sunday School class taught me a lesson

That I will never forget, She was diagnosed with cancer

Beth  said, to me one day as her hair was falling out and frail as could be

I never say “God Why Me?” she said, I say “Why Not Me?”

Driving home that day with tears flowing down my cheek

I asked myself, Could I be as strong as Beth?

The last words she said to me as she was drawing her last weak breath

I love you, she closed her eyes and went to be with our Lord

Her walk with God showed on her face as she left this world

To go into His presence, I know He will say,

“You have been a good and faithful servant”

Today I pray that I will not say “Why Me Lord?”.

Why Do We Fear?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

There is a great day coming, by and by.
We whine, we cry, we pout, and fear
That we might die and will not be here.

God has promised to prepare us a place,
A wonderful mansion for all that believe on His Son.
Don’t you think that will be fun?

When we get to Heaven, one great day,
To see Jesus and loved ones gone on before ~
I am looking forward to that day.

He tells us not to fear, that He will always be near.
What a day of rejoicing that will be
When our dear Jesus we will see.

Think of how He has watched over you and me.
Lovingly, He has taken our hand ~
Walked with us, daily, through this land.

Won’t it be wonderful there?

No need to FEAR!

Who’s The Boss?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

I was thinking of my wonderful mother, today;
Remembering how she taught me to pray and obey.

She often said, “No,” and I would cry.
I whined and pouted without changing her mind.

Today, our children have the upper hand.
They know just what to do for their parents to give in.

It is interesting to see who runs the show.
The children are the ones that tell the parents where to go.

Children, listen to your parents and do what is right.
They have been there and have seen the light.

I am so thankful that my mother was boss.
She was not afraid to discipline me, regardless of the cost.

Parents, you are the boss.  If you do not stand firm,
IT WILL BE YOUR CHILDREN’S LOSS!!!

What Is Love?

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

It is forgiving the person that has hurt you,

Not running to the courts to sue

You love when that person you married isn’t young anymore,

That doesn’t matter, nor when they snore

Everyone has faults but you don’t try to find them

Instead you see the person that made your head spin

Love is more than just a crush,

You get excited and want to rush

Into a marriage that is not meant to be

It is unconditional, you will plainly see

That person isn’t always great looking or sweet

They may make your life miserable for a day or a week

Can we take care of that person, no matter what?

Love them as the Bible says, that is a lot!!!!

Who Cares

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Who cares if I am lonely today

Who cares if I do not pray

Who cares when I stray

Jesus cares

Who cares when I am sick

Who cares when I am defeated

Who cares when I lose a loved one

Jesus cares

Who will walk with me to the store

Who will cry because I am sad

Who will smile for my achievements

Jesus cares

Who will love me unconditionally

Who will be my true friend

Who will lead me in the right direction

Jesus cares
